How to Power Cycle Network Equipment:
If you are having connection issues and rebooting your router does not solve the problem, try powercycling your network devices. When you powercycle your network devices, you turn off all your networking devices and reboot them.
NOTE: The sequence of turning on the modem, router and attached devices is important! Follow the instructions below carefully.
To powercycle your home network:

To powercycle your home network:
- Turn off the DSL or cable modem for three minutes.
- Turn off the router by unplugging it.
- Turn off all computers attached to your network.
- Turn on the modem first and let it boot (1). Let it complete its connection to your ISP (Internet Service Provider (example: AT&T)) before proceeding to the next step.
- Once the modem completes the connection to your ISP, plug in the router. Let it complete its power on test before proceeding to the next step.
- Restart your computer(s).
- Turn off the DSL or cable modem for three minutes.
